Emma Rodenhurst-Grant

I hail from Liverpool, a wonderful and dynamic city that has shaped me and my love for art from an early age. I came to Aberdeen University in 1992 to study History of Art and further studies included a Heritage Management MSc and a Master of Fine Art both from Robert Gordon University as well as seven years running a Civil Service office in Aberdeen. I am currently on the committee for North East Open Studios and a regular contributor. I have work in private collections in the UK and the USA.

I started my project “The Five Mile Draw” just over two years ago. The aim was to learn to understand the history, appreciate the detail and tell the story of the landscape in a five mile circle around my home. While my favourite medium has always been pen and ink, this wonderful landscape has to be appreciated in colour and it’s led me to work almost exclusively in paint this year. I’m fascinated to know where my project will take me in the years to come
