Lorna Purvis

Lorna moved to Aberdeen in 1974 to study at Grays School of Art specializing in jewellery making.  From an early childhood on the west coast island of Jura and the Mull of Kintyre Lorna has been influenced by her surroundings. Many years of experiencing the seasonal changes while beachcombing these often wild and windy coastlands seem to return in her organic jewellery designs.  After devoting several years to furniture restoration, antiques and  working in the well loved vegetarian cafe, JAWS,  Lorna returned to designing and making jewellery in 1991. Her technique of fusing precious metal gave her the  unique, organic results that are seen in her work today, sometimes enhanced with the addition of gold and semi precious stones.
Lorna’s work can be seen at various local outlets and exhibitions. She is also happy to consider private commissions and looks forward to meeting everyone who pops in to visit The Studio, Monymusk.
